Proper Snow!

We have finally had our first proper Winter Storm of the season!

New York City ended up with about 3-4 inches of snow. On my way to work this morning, I did a detour via Central Park and took the following pictures. It was so lovely - I wish I could have stayed there for hours!

So I have also found out why most people tend not to look forward to or enjoy snow storms in the city. The streets are an absolute mess! The roads are covered in icy cold mush that can be really slippery for cars and pedestrians alike.

The footpaths are either very icy and slippery (where the businesses shovelled the snow) or covered in 2 inches of muddy snow where noone has shovelled. Crossing the streets are interesting as you have to dodge the knee high mounds of very dirty snow, wade through the puddles of icy water all while trying not to slip!

Despite all that - it is fun!

Fundraising for the Inca Trail

As you may know, I will be trekking the Inca Trail in April this year with my friends, Wendy and Amanda.

I have decided to use the trip to try to raise some money for RIPPLE Africa, the charity I went to Malawi with at the beginning of last year.

The money raised will go towards community based projects in the areas of education, health ant the environment.

Here is how the fund raising is going so far! Please click on the link if you would like to donate!

Many thanks for your support!

PS - please remember to check back here for photos from my trips over the next few months!
