Merry Christmas!!

The Regent Street Christmas lights

It's that time of year again! When the sun is setting at around 4pm, and not rising until it's gone 8am. When the central heating is on around the clock and you wouldn't dream of leaving the house without gloves and a scarf...

It is also the time of year when Central London is lit up with Christmas street lights! Unfortunately, as you can see from the examples above, this year the Regent Street lights were designed by someone who probably got paid far too much money for some 'symbolic' design. In other words, they are pretty bad!!

Usually the lights are strung across the whole width of the street and are generally quite pretty. However, this years offerings hang only in the middle of the street and really don't scream out 'Christmas' at all!!

Nevertheless, Christmas is just around the corner and Rob, Mel, Gareth and myself are gearing up to head to Poland for about 10 days. We will be travelling by train both ways - Eurostar to Brussels, overnight sleeper to Berlin and then onto Krakow! Getting there will be half the fun!

We will be in Krakow for a couple of nights before heading to the Tatras mountains in the south of Poland, to a well known village there called Zakopane. This village is apparently the winter wonderland of Poland! We will be there for a few days, including Christmas, before heading back to Krakow and then home to England.

I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas - stay happy and safe where ever you will be. I am looking forward to spending next Christmas in Oz - my first for 6 years!

Merry Christmas!
